NOTHING BUT NETS update:

 

Last June we participated in the “Nothing But Nets” program to stop Malaria by providing bed nets to protect children & families from disease-carrying mosquitoes.

 

Nothing But Nets is a global, grassroots campaign to save lives by preventing malaria, a leading killer of children in Africa. The people of The United Methodist Church, along with Sports Illustrated, NBA Cares, the United Nations Foundation and several other groups, are raising funds to purchase bed nets to end malaria.

 

Here’s where we are:

In our efforts to transform the world as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ, the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference set out to collect $100,000 to provide 10,000 bed nets to save at least 10,000 children who are at risk of contracting Malaria.

 

We are proud to report that we have more than surpassed our goal, collecting $166,343 (as of 2/9/09).

 

We celebrate the effort so far & thank all those churches, organizations, and individuals that have contributed.  By answering

Jesus’ call to “minister to the least of these who are members of our family”, we can beat this disease & give children the opportunity to live a life of health and happiness.
